An ACE is a Quarterback that displays the five qualities that are needed to succeed at an any level. These qualities will separate a Quarterback from their competition, and they will ultimately set themselves up for the greatest chance of success by displaying these qualities. So, what are the five qualities of an ACE?
POISE: A Quarterback must be calm, cool, & collected in any situation. They must be able to have short term memory, regardless if they threw an interception or if they threw a touchdown. A poised QB has great awareness and knows how to stay in the moment.
CONFIDENCE: A Quarterback must have bulletproof confidence. Confidence is something that a QB wears. His coaches, teammates, and fans can see it. Confidence is built through preparation. Regardless of the situation, a confident QB has complete belief in himself at all times.
LEADERSHIP: A Quarterback must be the leader of his team. His teammates are looking for someone to follow. A great leader communicates well with others, holds himself & others accountable, takes responsibility even when things may not be his fault, and makes others around him better.
DECISION MAKING: A Quarterback must be able to make good decisions. A good QB knows when to take smart risk. His decisions put himself and the team in the best position for success. Preparation will increase the QB's chance of making quality decisions during game time.
ANTICIPATION: A Quarterback must be able to anticipate. A good QB knows how to throw receivers open. Preparation and understanding of defensive coverage allows the QB to anticipate every throw that he makes.
